Duties The Department of Surgery is recruiting a Senior Research Investigator to establish and manage the Translational Cardiovascular Surgery Laboratory under the direction of Dr. Pavan Atluri with a goal of optimizing tissue engineered regenerative strategies including small molecules, exosomes, and biomaterial based delivery strategies to treat heart failure. Experimentation involves cellular, small, and large animal models. Later stages projects will likely involve clinical investigation as well. The Research Investigator Senior will be responsible for the design of the translational/basic science experiments to test hypotheses related to myocardial preservation and regeneration. The candidate will have a leadership role and will be responsible for the supervision of all lab staff. The candidate will be independent, self-driven, organized, and possess excellent managerial and scientific writing skills. Small animal operative skills would be beneficial. The candidate should be proficient in independent paper and grant writing. The highly qualified candidate will have excellent opportunities for growth, independence and teaching in a dynamic lab.
Qualifications Highly advanced professional discipline. PhD or equivalent doctoral degree and 5 years to 7 years of experience are required.
