Featured Exosome Job – Senior Scientist – Exosome Platform

Overview:

PureTech Health is hiring for a new program focused on developing a breakthrough platform for oral administration of a multitude of payloads by advancing novel findings around a variety of drug delivery platforms. By taking a systematic approach to identify payloads, vehicles, and transport networks that are conserved in biology we have uncovered a variety of mechanisms that can be harnessed for drug delivery purposes.  Unlike materials and strategies that have been explored to date, and have limitations in terms of capacity, trafficking, and toxicity to name a few, the strategies being explored by PureTech, currently in preclinical development, can vastly expand the toolkit that we have at our disposal to overcome significant drug delivery challenges and translate meaningful therapies to the clinic.  We are guided by a world-class group of scientific leaders including SAB Chair Dr. Bob Horvitz and Board member Dr. Robert Langer.

 Job Responsibilities:

The Scientist/Senior Scientist will be responsible for both scientific and operational execution in a start-up company setting for its oral delivery technology. The role will include a variety of responsibilities spanning experimental design, execution/hands-on lab work, and presenting results to the broader PureTech team. The individual must be able to demonstrate or rapidly develop expertise across disparate technological fields (e.g., oral delivery, nanoparticles, microfluidics, trafficking systems etc.).  The employee will directly report to PureTech’s senior management team and will have input into the overall scientific strategy and operational plans.  The employee will play a key role in executing aggressively against all development goals and enable the company to adhere to project milestones, budgets, and timelines. The Scientist / Senior Scientist is a critical role and the opportunity exists for the role and responsibilities to grow with the continues development of the technology.

Qualifications:

• in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Chemistry, or related field, with post-doctoral training and significant contributions to the scientific field
• Significant industry experience (3+ years) designing and working with lipid and polymer formulations of nucleic acids and biologics
• Expertise in standard nanoparticle formulation tools and analytical methods
• Experience with microfluidic systems highly desirable
• Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and partnering skills
• Excellent cross-disciplinary skills in communicating scientific ideas to non-scientist stakeholders to foster collaboration and deliverable-based team work
• Startup experience is highly valued. Ability to adjust rapidly to changing scientific priorities and technologies
