Sales and Applications Scientist (MS and/or PhD)- US (Mid-West and West Coast)
Position Description
Reporting to the COO-Americas as a member of the Sales and Support team, providing technical assistance to customers within the designated territory. This is a customer focused role and requires working in close collaboration with US sales team as well as Izon’s team in New Zealand.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Sales Responsibilties:
- Function independently with a high degree of sales proficiency in the assigned territory.
- Develop a strong technical product knowledge and put into practice to accomplish sales objectives.
- Generate sales leads and actively follow up on leads generated by marketing campaigns.
- Undertake and as required assist with, completion of instrument sales through the application of scientific and technical knowledge.
- Performing instrument demonstrations at the customer site, as part of the selling process.
- Perform pre-sales sample analysis and generate reports.
- Provide relevant scientific information and quotations when required.
- Completion of sales to the receipt of purchase orders.
- Review of purchase orders and follow up post-delivery of the products.
- Previous experience with Hubspot inbound marketing and sales software is a plus.
Post Sales Technical and Scientific Support:
- Day-to-day provision of technical and scientific support and training to Izon’s customers, in the assigned territory. This includes on-site and remote training, phone, email and online based support as required. A detailed understanding of the users’ research goals is required to ensure that effective solutions are made available to them.
- Contributing to customer or partner’s projects by developing standard measurement and analysis protocols to suit their requirements
- Implement Izon’s QA procedures including commissioning and set up of code compliant software, where that has been offered.
- Maintenance of internal systems for record keeping and keeping customer interaction records up to date.
- Analysis of customer or potential customer samples in Izon’s laboratory and providing reports.
- Communication of technical, software and method updates to customers.
- Ensuring that customers are confident about recommending Izon’s solutions to others.
- The emphasis in Support is on avoiding problems before they occur rather than reacting to them after they occur.
Location: San Francisco/Los Angeles, CA or Portland, OR locations are highly preferred, other locations in the United States will be discussed case by case.
Key Personal Requirements
- A strong technical background preferably in cellular biology and/or extracellular vesicles with a full understanding of laboratory practices, and workflow. MinimumMS qualification required with technical support experience. PhD is preferred.
- Previous experience with Izon’s TRPS instrument and consumables products is highly preferred but not required.
- Previous experience with Size Exclusion Chromatography columns for EV purification and downstream analysis of RNA and protein cargos (i.e. Western Blot, ELISA, SDS-PAGE, Mass Spec.)
- Aptitude for IT and communications applications. Experience of Microsoft Office software, laboratory automation and computerization.
- Good problem-solving skills. Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
- Experience within a product support or sales role would be a distinct advantage for this customer facing role.
- Strong communication and presentation skills. Applicants will be required to communicate effectively with all grades of laboratory and company staff.
- Flexible and adaptable. Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel (~50% of time) within the assigned region.

- Coordinate with testing partners in the assigned territory to provide scientific feedback on new product lines before release to the public.
- Generate new product summary reports for marketing and sales campaigns.
Location: Boston, MA and Portland, OR locations are highly preferred, other locations in the United States will be discussed case by case.
