Job Description – The CVM group is committed to discovering innovative medicines to treat cardiovascular and metabolic disorders. The primary requirement for this position is the ability to lead complex, fast-moving, multi-disciplinary drug discovery programs, starting as early as target identification and culminating with delivery to (or through) IND-enabling studies. Excellent leadership, communication and analytical skills are required. The CVM group is in search of a doctoral level scientist (Investigator) with RNA expertise to plan, initiate and execute discovery of nucleic acid therapeutics for the treatment of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.
As a member of the CVM group the investigator will be responsible for:
- proposing and validating novel targets, initiating new projects and performing experiments.
- expression vector design
- synthesis, enzymatic preparation, modification, purification and characterization of RNA drug candidates, and design and testing of delivery vehicles.
- analysis of results to support the generation of patents, and regulatory submissions.
- leading drug discovery programs to identify therapeutics for cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.
Minimum requirements – The candidate should have a PhD in molecular biology, biophysics, biochemistry, chemistry or a related discipline and at least 5 years of relevant postdoctoral training and/or industry experience with nucleic acid design and characterization, preferably with a pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical company. He/she should have a track-record of scientific achievement and demonstrated ability to work in an interdisciplinary team setting, and experience supervising and training technical level staff. Broad scientific knowledge, strong work ethic, excellent oral and written communication, and a proven record of scientific achievement are essential.
