We have an open position for postdoctoral trainee in the lab of Dr. Robert Rissman in the Department of Neurosciences at UCSD.
Candidate needs to have a Ph.D. degree in Neuroscience or other related biological science area. Candidate needs to show productivity with at least 1 first author publication, or manuscript pending acceptance. Dr. Rissman’s research is broadly divided into two primary areas: (1) Basic science research using animal and cell models, in vivo pharmacology and a variety of anatomical, biochemical and molecular techniques to identify how drugs that impact central stress signaling pathways can be used to treat neurodegeneration, and (2) Alzheimer’s disease biomarker discovery using banked human clinical trials samples and high throughput bioassays. Main areas of biomarker work are focused on beta-amyloid, tau and exosome research. Dr. Rissman is the Director of the Alzheimer’s Disease Cooperative Study (ADCS) Biomarker Core which serves clinical sites nationwide to receive, process, bank and share ADCS clinical trial fluid samples.
